Wine Salon of the Czech Republic

Wine Salon of the Czech Republic is the highest wine competition in the Czech Republic. Wines applying for the Wine Salon first of all need to go through the system of nominating exhibitions, only on this basis the wine-maker can apply for assessment in the Wine Salon. Only wines made from grapes grown in the Czech Republic can apply. Then the wine samples go through the assessment in the committee of wine-tasters, which awards the best 100 wines the right to mark their label with the words “Salon vín České republiky” (“Wine Salon of the Czech Republic”).

The competition is followed by the permanent public wine-tasting exposition of the top 100 wines, placed in the cellar premises of the state chateau in Valtice. Visitors can choose from several types of wine-tasting programmes – either so called “open wine-tasting”, when they can freely taste nearly all the wines in the Salon (excluding special predicate selections), or they can choose from several types of supervised wine-tasting programmes.

Of course it is possible to buy the tasted wines. It is also possible just to visit the Salon without wine-tasting, only to see the exposition and buy selected wine bottles. The collection of the Wine Salon of the Czech Republic involves the best white and red wines, starting from dry through semidry up to sweet wines, including unique predicate selection from grapes, ice and straw wines.
